Overall Purpose: To develop the Alcoholism Center For Women’s first Aftercare Program for both our residential and outpatient clients.
Duties and Responsibilities: This position will develop and implement ACW’s first Aftercare Program by providing individual counseling, crisis intervention and case management services to ACW’s clients who have completed or left ACW’s residential or outpatient programs. The position will also offer 2 drop in groups per week, organize monthly fun sober social outings/events, help establish peer to peer counseling opportunities, opportunities to give back and provide service to ACW and develop ACW’s alumni network via Facebook and other social media models to best assist, inspire and ensure long term recovery for ACW clients.
This position will develop a data bank of alumni and work with counselors and finance staff to document individual and group sessions in SAGE and bill for services when possible. The position will develop needed forms for the program, research best curriculum and social media platforms to utilize. The position will develop advertising strategies for ACW’s alumni and will attend relevant county and community collaborative meetings. The position will provide a monthly activity and data report to submit to the Executive Director for inclusion in the board report. The position will assist in the coordination, implementation and staffing of community events, health fairs and special projects. Other duties as assigned.
Relationships/Contacts: Reports to the Executive Director. Maintains linkages with and makes presentations to other social services, public entitlement community based agencies. Performs patient advocacy and outreach functions.
Additional Dimensions: Working knowledge of substance abuse treatment and recovery, women services, trauma informed services and working with evidence based curriculum. Knowledgeable and sensitive to the needs of diverse women in treatment. Experience working with diverse populations, such as homeless women, women of color, battering and incest survivors. Sensitivity to women of diverse orientation. Ability to work in a community-based setting which utilizes a team approach and ability to work with electronic health records. Three years (3) years’ experience in group facilitation and individual counseling. Must be reliable, prompt, and flexible.
Qualification Requirements: Registered or Certified as a substance abuse counselor with a California State approved institution. AA Degree in Human services, or related field desirable.
Degree may be substituted with high school degree and three (3) years of experience in substance abuse treatment. Two (2) years of working knowledge in social and clinical treatment setting; practical knowledge of social and clinical model treatment approaches and techniques; certification in substance abuse from accredited institution. Computer literate. Strong oral and written communications skills. Must own reliable transportation and process valid California driver’s license, as well as current automobile insurance. If recovering from substance abuse, must have minimum of two (2) years clean and sober. Need not to be recovery to apply. English/Spanish speaking are encouraged to apply.
